Hello,
I have a question I’m planning on building a set of Toids BTS 15, but the Eminence OMEGA PRO-15-2KW-8 is 400€ plus in Germany so I was thinking about replacing it with an SB Audience NERO-15SW800 that I can get for 250€, what are you guys thinking about it.
I already put it into WinISD and the low-end looks good enough, but I’m a bit worried about the high-end since I don’t know what the distortion will look like in the crossover point at 700-800Hz.
Does anyone have any experience with the SB Audience NERO-15SW800 and can give me some of their thoughts on this idea?
By the way, I’m able to design my own crossover.

November 10, 2023 at 7:17 am #51947Technically you can do that, but the crossover would need to be reworked. So I couldn’t say exactly how well they would do without reworking the crossover. That would be the main sticking point. But if you have a measurement microphone and DATS we can always help you guide you with designing your own crossover.

Okay thanks,
I’m well aware, that I need a new crossover and I have an OmniMic V2, but no DATS.
I already designed and build 4 speakers on my own and designed the crossover in Virtuix CAD and I think they sound great, but I used the impedance curve given by the manufacturer and all of them use a simple dome tweeter.
Why do I need the DATS?
My guess is that I need it because the horn changes the impedance of the tweeter in the crossover point, am I right?
If so I’m willing to order one.
I would be really happy if you could (at least) check the crossover after I designed it, but I’ll think I will start with the project in the beginning of year.
Thank you in advance.

I would be excited to see what you come up with. And I would love to see it in the end. YOu are going to love that Textreme driver.

Hi my Ordering date 19.05.24 is coming closer and I was playing around in the simulation of the crossover and found that the eminence n314x-8 would cross over great with two SB Audience NERO-12MWN400D and a lower order crossover, do you see any drawbacks compared to one 15″ driver when using a set subwoofers for the low end?
