I’m getting the itch to build my own home theater speakers. My room is a little unusual. The TV will be in the corner, and the back wall is pretty much all glass from sliding glass doors. Also that area near the sliding glass door is open to the level above it. The room also has tile floors, with an area rug in the center. The room is approximately 27 x 30‘, and I will be sitting 17 feet from the screen in the middle of the room. My goals are to have speakers that sound amazing, even at low volume levels because I really don’t crank it too often, and I want to be able to understand the dialogue. They will be used mainly for movies, very little for music. The second criteria is that they have to look amazing. The front left and right, and rear left and right can be as big as I want them. No size restrictions there I was thinking of the audience 212 for the front and rear speakers, and the cinema 10 for the center and possibly the side left and right should I decide to go through the trouble of wiring the room for them. I think the big consideration I have is with the glass and tile is that the tweeter has to be aimed at the listener. I have a full wood shop so building the cabinets should be easy for me. I’ve never soldered before, so it’s the crossover that has me terrified.

I think my first step is to get a 100 inch TV to replace my 85 inch 1080 P. Then I will build the speakers, and then upgrade my receiver to something that matches the speakers. Does this sound like a viable plan to you guys? Thanks.

One more question: which sub should I pair with these?
