$3500 Speakers for $350? Klipsch KL-650 Inspiration
d'oh! Will recheck that but I bet you're right.
Thanks for confirming! I misorderded the 2ohm resistors (only bought 2 instead of four). I need to run out and pickup those locally or wait for PE to come through.
Here’s my build they really fit nicely into my cabinet and sound great! I’m thinking the faitals need some time to loosen up. My old center channel is a bad match (no surprise). I’m going to mock up a center channel using similar components to fit in the smaller center cubby.
Nice! I especially like the "acoustically transparent" doors. Looks like a better solution than what was thrown around previously.
If you look at this post, there's a horn in there that has the same dispersion pattern, but is much smaller. You could rearrange the same drivers, maybe the Faital's on the bottom corners with the smaller horn in the upper middle, with a port below. Of course you'd have to check and recalc the box tuning, but it shouldn't be that far off.
Hey guys, finally finished my kl650 clones, was long because I had to wait for PE to restock the 6fe200 4 ohm .. but finally, they are done !
Those look nice, I bet they sound great with your positioning also!
For my center channel, i was thinking about trying to use two 4ohm 4" woofer like this one still matched with the JBLd220ti. any thoughts?
@123toid Just ordered all the materials to try this build. Pe is currently out of the .22mh inductors til mid January. Is there a substitute part i could use? New to building and looking foward tobthis project! Thanks
That is excellent! I wish this was my first build. You are going to have some killer speakers. You can substitute the .22 with the .25 inductor. That is in stock. Please show your pictures when you are finished. Feel free to do a build log if you want as well. We can help you along the way if you have any problems and would love to see your progress.
@123toid thanks for the quick response! Looks like a fun build the only thing im slightly worried about is the crossover. Im an electrician and hvac tech by trade though so think I'll be fine once i do it. Only question i have rn is what type/size wire is used to wire from crossover to the actual components? And would you recommend soldering those or using spade clips. Not sure that really makes any difference but figured I'd ask.
I always use 16ga wire. It is pretty universal for short runs like in a cabinet. As far as connections. You have all kinds of options. I would use spade on the drivers, so you don't accidentally damage them. As far as connecting them to the crossover, you can use solder, screw terminals or any other type of terminals.
