Wasn't sure where to put this topic so I hope here is ok.

My question is, are there any appreciable differences between DATS V2 and V3? I ask because I am thinking of saving up and want to decide whether V3 is worth the extra? 🙂

That is a good question.  If you can get your hands on a V2 for cheap, it offers the same functionality.  The main differences between DATS v2 and V3 are as follows:

V3 upgrades?

  1. It is a hard aluminum case versus a cheap plastic, making it a lot more durable
  2. It has a built in capacitor to calibrate the leads, V@ you have a small seperate capacitor that is easy to lose (some just tape it to their desk or monitor
  3. V3 offers removeable aligator clips, so if anything should happen to them (run over them with your chair or one just fall apart), you can easily replace them.
  4. Dats V3 offers a removeable USB, that way if anything happens to the USB cord you are fine.

Those are the main differences, but like I said, functionality wise, both DATS are the same.  For what it is worth, I love my DATS V3.

@123toid Doesn't the V3 also have more power than the V2? I think that was one of the other big points.

Haha, I have those moments all the time. Often I end up realising that for whatever reason I dreamt up the finding of said obscure fact 🤣

@elliottdesigns if you look up the V3 on Parts Express, the white paper states it has more power to pull the measurements further away from the noise floor. I think that's what I'm recalling. Lol
