Speaker volume importance to Box volume.
Just a simple question on Box volume and adding extra volume to it, to make up for the speakers, ports, braces, passive radiator etc. What is your rule of thumb?
my example - WinISD modles it at 600 in3 of box volume for the TangBand 1138MF with 2 Dayton DSA175 6.5 inch passive radiators. my way of thinking is that i need to compensate for the speakers at around 200 in3
That seems to be quite excessive. But one thing you can do is when you input the driver parameters in winISD, the next tab over allows you to put the driver dimensions. When you do that, it'll calculate the amount of volume it will take up in the box.
ya I have tried, but when it comes to passive radiator it wont calculate, I believe do to no magnet.
This site will help you figure out your driver displacement for the passive radiator. I am getting about 15.5 in3 for each. So basically around 31 in3.
I found a calculator on the innerweb, and got 15 in3 for the passives and 24.4 for the TangBand 1138MF Winisd also calculated the TangBand 1138MF at 24.4 in3
