connecting bass shaker to a pc
Are you using the logitech sub with the bass shaker? If so you need this cable and then follow the tutorial using the left output of the splitter (sub) to go into both channels of the amplifier:
If not then still follow the link for the splitter but instead you will only need a mono amplifier.
These chinese mini amps are generally over rated so if I were you I would go for a higher power one than 50W you do not want to go into amplifier clipping whilst trying to get more juice out of it. Other than that, looks good. You will also need speaker cable, this is a great cable made one myself.
is this right?
Still not too sure what setup you are trying to achieve. In my above post this is what I am assuming:
PC outputs: (front L/R) ✓, (back L/R) ✓, (centre/sub) 1/2✓. Meaning you have your outputs from all channels including the centre output going to your centre speaker and your sub out going to your subwoofer. This means we need to duplicate the subwoofer portion of your output audio so the two wires will work perfectly for that, just make sure you follow the initial video for the duplication of the audio in that channel.
As for the subwoofer amplifier, I am always a bit dubious with amplifiers I haven't built myself as you don't know if they have something such as a high-pass at 20hz built-in, and you don't want that for a bass shaker. So do with that info what you want.
I do recommend for the bass shaker portion of input that you put some sort of separate low pass filter on it so that you can tune it so its output is not audible and only feelable.
Hope this helps, when possible give us updates. I want to know how it goes!
Also, you could use 1 wire like this ( https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330825325514 ) instead of buying 2 wires separately, but I can understand your preference as it isn't exactly aesthetically pleasing. XD
which one would be best? https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=low+pass+filter&ref=nb_sb_noss
i don't care about the aesthetic, i just want it to work lol.
i ordered the cable, so now all i need is the amp and (optional) low pass filter?
i do apologize for being an audio retard, i'll buy you a beer when all this is done lol
Fair enough about the aesthetic, what's your max price for a given quality of low pass filter?
Edit: From your link, either of these because you only need the low pass filter part: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Filter-Subwoofer-Pre-amp-Amplifier-Preamplifier-Color-Blue-1/dp/B07ZHFCYZ6/ref=sr_1_11?dchild=1&keywords=low+pass+filter&qid=1588853849&sr=8-11
@diyaudiphileelliottbridge i still need the amp, and the one i had on the list is ok?
I personally would go for something a bit higher rated (wattage) as these cheap ones are usually overrated in their specs. Also, if you already have power going to your sub, then I would recommend a mono amp. Something like this: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32841942780.html
But you would also need a 24v power supply. You can find them quite cheaply even on amazon. E.g. most of these
Hope this helps.
OK, ordered all the parts. Will report back when I get them. Cheers mate.
