This 12” Titanic MK III getting pushed with a 500 watt amp should be fun. Nick is designing and cutting out the box enclosure for me and mailing it to me as a flat pack.

I'll give an update, since I am building the enclosure, lol.  I am still working on his flat pack. He had to get me the dimensions of the amplifier before I could cut it out.  Are you familiar with these subwoofers?  They were the Ultimax before Ultimax.  I am relaly excited to see this finished.

Have not decided on what kind of finish yet. Was thinking of using a spray on bedliner product since this may become a sub for a portable outdoor theater.

I am not familiar with these drivers though I see a lot of Ultimax DNA in everything but the cone material and surround. It looks like a quality piece. On a distantly related note, I recently picked up one of the HSU buyout 12" and am very impressed with the quality/performance especially for $80.

I used the titanic 12" mkIII in a 6cu ft sonotube tuned to 20 hz. It has some really nice low bass. However the upper bass is muddy.

I didn't realize you picked one of these up? Very xecited to hear you like it.  I thought about buying one myself.  Now I just might.

@shrub0 I think we are going sealed with his.  It's going in a rpetty small room and according to the manual, he should get in the 20hz F3 in room response.  Of course, it is hard to say, without actually measuring it in the room.  I love seeing their white paper on this.  I wish they did this more with their newer subs.

@123toid

I am using it in a ~3.5 cft enclosure internal with a full length 4" Precision Port. Tuning comes in right about 20 hz. Previously I was using the $30 JBL CS1214/CX/GX1200 in this same enclosure with great results but this HSU driver is a noticeably better driver. I really would have no problem running two to four of these in a medium sized room. Plus you could build one for about $230 each (driver, HSU VTF-3 AMP, MDF and 4" precision port).

You picked up some of the VTF-3 enclosures at the tent sale didn't you? Any plans on how you are going to use them?

That sounds awesome.  I've always heard good theings about them.  I did not pick up any enclosures.  I wish I did, but I rented a small car and there was really no way to transport them back home.  I did, however, pick up two of the HSU Research amplifiers.  They had a few of the class D version that was RMS 350w available for $16.  I should have bought them all.  I have no real plans for them, but thought I would get them while I could for so cheap.

Good idea on the amps. That tent sale looks incredible. Not sure I'll ever get to Ohio though.

The white sheet is cool but extensive third party testing like for example databass is also great.
