Dinas Invited to RMAF
Alright guys, this is a pretty cool announcement. The Dinas have been invited to Rocky Mountain Audio Fest. I am excited to let others hear these. They are really starting to gain some traction. I'll update with some photos when I can.
Nice, hopefully you got invited too to show them off.
That's awesome, I hear I need to hear these things =)
Will you be there? I won't be, but JoeNTell is going to show them off there.
This is great, Nick! Hope you don't mind if I dropped your name, the DINAs, Kirby and JoeNTell's names on this video:
It'd be cool if you could meet him, but maybe another time.
If I didn't say it before, CONGRATULATIONS!
Nah, wrong region, just cool that these are getting publicity it seems they deserve =) Congrats!
That is awesome! Thanks. I saw that video and obviously didn't agree with everything he said. There is a price point though where building versus buying is hard to compete (think cheap bluetooth speakers). But overall, you know where I stand 😀
I hear you. I am not going either this time. I appreciate the kind words and thoughts.
Oh absolutely. When you have no middle man, factory labor is pennies on the dollar and the volume discount is sky high, there's no contest for price. Even if you could get the best prices through eBay or AliExpress (etal), you still couldn't touch them. Heck, even the 5-minute design I came up with was over $60, just in mechanicals and electronics. Something like that factory built would retail for $40, or 5x's that with a "badge" on it.
As for the video, well, he's a bit of a curmudgeon and a business man who needs to sell his vision to live the life he's become accustomed. And that's fine because that's his path. I do believe that his audio goals and those of this forum and hobby are very similar, just with different philosophies.
Personally, I'd like to see the DINAs have a strong interest at the show, enough to make the old guard sit up and take notice. I feel you and the hobby deserve it.
Great to see these monitors get some extra attention. Putting a 2.1 amp in each speaker with the w5 was a great idea.
These are really starting to look gorgeous! I'll update so go today. That is solid Sapele, also called African Mahogany.
This could be interesting 😀
I am starting to like what I see.
Do you make up the striped panel or buy it like that?
I made it. I cut the maple in half, then sandwiched a 1/4" piece of Sapele in it.
