KeymasterIt is pretty cool that you found this. Joe N’ Tell and I talked about this years ago. Why do speakers look like speakers. Can’t we make them functioning art. And with DIY, that is definitely possible. That is really cool to see. Thank you for sharing this!

ModeratorYou’re welcome.
And I agree, just about everyone can make a basic box, but to elevate the quality of sound you have worked so hard for up to the level of pleasing and desirable aesthetics / art, well, only “you” can see your own vision realized. Anything else would just be another person’s perception.
Remember, keep your eyes, ears, and mind open. You never know what you’ll come across or what will be an inspiration.

KeymasterExactly. It reminds me of a famous Gordon Ramsey saying, “You eat with you eyes.” Or at least something to that extent. But you get the point.

ParticipantLovely stuff! And it’s always nice trying to find ways to make speakers look different. But they’re usually the way they are for a reason. For instance, with those you’d have limited high frequency extension as well as comb filtering from reflections on nearby walls due to the lack of a baffle to project the high frequencies off of. But as I said, beautiful art, I just felt these points should be made. To gain something in one area, one must lose it in another.
