I am in the process of building the crossovers for my 4 surround speakers. While ordering the parts for the crossover, I recalled watching a video by GR-Research (youtube channel) about how “better” quality components would affect the sound.

As an example, one of the crossover parts required is an inductor that is available in both 14 awg as well as 18 awg versions on Parts Express site. The 14 awg version is three times more expensive than its 18 awg counterpart.

Same goes for capacitors where certain types of capacitors are significantly more money. My question is – What do you guys think about using higher grade components in your crossover builds. Can you tell the difference in the quality of the sound?
