Hi, bought plans for the cinema 10 and I’ve become stuck.
Built the crossover and thought I’d test it before finishing the first cabinet. I found a loose joint on the tweeter side and soldered it. Before that I was getting nothing through the tweeter (obviously) but some quiet audio through the woofer.
I’ve tested both the tweeter and woofer direct to the amp and both work fine.
I’ve checked and rechecked the crossover against the drawing and can’t see what I’ve done wrong so I’m a bit stuck and would like some help please.
Excuse my rubbish wiring, it’s my first ever speaker build.
Thanks
Steven

Update!!
There was a complete break inside the joining earth wire which was completely hidden by the brown insulation. The speakers now working 😀 very happy.
Looking forward to finishing the first cabinet. Pics and an update to follow. Thank you Nick for responding via email.

Hi Steven,
First of all, I would like to thank you for sharing your Built on the Cinema 10 Speakers. I started last October 2024 on the cutout for the waveguide. The issue with this is that corners are rounded. I tested on regular .75″ plywood; however, I didn’t like the way the corners came out. Needless to say, a little frustration kick in. I ordered the parts for the crossover; however, I haven’t started to put it together as yet. Can you please send a view of the crossover components setup if you can, and how you did the cut out. I got some experience in carpentry and incline to do a great job. I personally want to thank you for sharing this particular DIY, you have inspired me to continue my project on the same. Again, thank you and take care.

Benito,
The Cinema 10s are extremely popular from what I can tell. I built 4 of these myself and use them as surrounds in my 7.2.5 HT setup. I absolutely love my Cinema 10s and would love to answer any questions you may have about my build process. You can also check out my Build of Cinema 10s if you want:

That’s my home theater build thread. Just scroll down a little and you should be able to see my posts about Cinema 10s. I had the similar issue doing the round corners of the horn. My way was a little more involving as I had to find the center of the round corners circles and then use my circle jig to cut perfect round circles. I am sure there is a better way without having to use a CNC. Attaching the picture here:

The answer is I also had your issue with the cutout. I’m a perfectionist so struggled to accept that I wasn’t going to get a satisfactory finish without a significant amount of time mocking up a template so I flush mounted the horns. I tormented myself with it for a few days and then realised the look great. Used gasket tape under the surround of the horn to seal.<div>
A few years back I’d of spent any amount of time doing rebates but I’d rather spend time with my little boy and live life.
We’ll both still enjoy the sound from these.
Judge for yourself.
