Hello there,
Just ordered my plans and first parts : tweeters directly from manufacturer with Black Friday prices.
Is there a plan with metric rounded values ?
What about create floorstand version ? What may be the best high ? What about extend infrabass by using the new volume ? Not changing the internal volume is the best way ?
Thanks in advance
Regards
Jean-Philippe from France (so excuse my “merdique” english).

November 29, 2023 at 8:35 pm #52154@JyPay Great questions. I don’t currently have a set of plans in metric. However, it is only important that you keep the internal volume the same. Since the wood sizes externally differ a little, do not worry about the external measurements as they will be a few mm off.
As far as a floor standing, the best thing to do would be to extend the cabinet to whatever size you want, but make the actual speaker parts the same internal size. So basically the bottom would be sealed off from the top. I would also consider stuffing it so you don’t get sound waves transferred in it.
You don’t really want to extend the internal volume. It wouldn’t be beneficial in this case. These drivers really do best in a moderately sized enclosure liek what was designed. I hope this helps.

Thank you for explanations. I will follow your advices and hope to enjoy those speakers as I expect : full FULL range from top to bottom.
I will post build pictures as soon I will receive all parts. Looks like Epiques are fairly rares. May be in stock in january. Hope. All other parts are available and ordered.
I will wait by creating the boxes.

Hello,
Mine will be 95 cm high with no board on the rear for the lower part. Just a reinforcement and a floor foot.
My MDF boards are ordered. I will put black walnut solid board for speakers, like the video. Will be 25 mm thick.
Pictures will follow when I will start the build.
Regards

Let’s test a link to the Cinema 6: https://i0.wp.com/toidsdiyaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Cinema-6.jpg

Hello,
Just finished the faces. Really happy with the result. First time using a circular flusher. Only four holes to do for the radiators. Then I will have to wait for end of January to get speakers and filter parts.
This time will be use for painting.
Merry Christmas to all of you and your family.

Got a little accident with one of my “chanfrein” : wood literally explode by the flusher 😤
Get some walnut dust mixed with wood glue and little water to repair the dent. Happy with the result : this should be worst. 😩
Put the tweeter at its place to have an idea of the future… Can’t wait !!!
Looks good with matte varnish applied🤩

March 23, 2024 at 5:15 pm #53447I never really said this, but I like the halfway chamfer. Reminds me of the Dina’s. It looks really sharp on the towers.

January 25, 2024 at 7:24 am #52683These would be cool in either a 3D print or a laser etch/cut in your wood and finish of choice, say, 3mm or so.

I took your logo from your Facebook profile (best resolution) then search for 3D stickers and finally found a Suedish website who send me 40 of them for 35€ : http://www.stickerapp.com

January 26, 2024 at 8:19 pm #52739Wowzwers! Those look amazing! The original plan is already a beautiful design, but these floor standers look even better!!!

After a full week-end of listening, I can surely say that I LOVE THESE SPEAKERS !!!
Tweeter is precise, thin and detailed. Medium is just in place. Low end is awesome, deep and puchy. I really can feel it.
I use a Fosi couple : P3 and V3 with 48V 5A power supply and an old Philips CD 771 on Line In.
I would like to warmly thank Nick for providing his plans and creating these speakers.

Hello,
An update about this : I added some internal acoustic damping.
The result is less boomy bass and ehance the medium for really best result in my opinion.

Hello,
After more than six month listen to those speakers, I can definitly say that I love them. Never been disapointed with them : if the music is bad, it’s due to poor recording or source.
I built the Epic’s without listening them at first, but I can garantee they are really great.
Thank you for sharing this to the DIY community Rick !

just got round to finishing mine off, my work space is my back yard which shared with my 4 neighbors and the unpredictable weather here means i have very little time to work in good weather so took me best part of a year to get these done. was trying for a high gloss piano black but got tired of sanding and re spraying as neighbors cats fur would be stuck all over it. i eneded up using poly fill inside
i will be using them with anthem avm70 and nc400x3 classd amp. need to get them dialed in tho as the speakers sound epique woofers move beautifully awesome with my desktop pc amp which is a ucd 180w. but on my anthem they done while playing the same tracks

yup i am enjoying them, music wise they sound better if use for music my—->dac—–>power amp—epic speakers. if its via my anthem avm70 using arc it helps but feels like bass is going to the sub rather than speakers will have to spend a day dialing it in. for movies tho oh my the bank robery at the start of batman dark knight sounds awesome

After two years they are still there and I don’t want to change them at all.
