  • Feedback on Modified MX15-22 Subwoofer Design

Toid has patiently answered a ton of my questions and that has led me to trying my first speaker design. I really wanted to use his MX15-22 design, but it’s just a little too big for my situation. He suggested I try a 4 cu ft version.

    So here it is:

    • MX15-22 driver
    • 4.0 cu ft box
    • 21.21 Hz tuning frequency
    • 3 rectangular ports, each 1.5″ x 6″ x 24.75″
    • The box is 21″ wide, 29.5″ tall, and 17″ wide (I will actually need to lay it on it’s side, though)

If I add a 20 Hz high pass filter and assume 800 W power, then I get an F3 of 24.0 Hz and a frequency response below. The peak cone excursion is under 16. The port velocity may be a bit high at 22, but I think that is very similar to his design.

The box design and bracing is also shown below.

Any thoughts and feedback before I order parts and make sawdust?

    Thanks in advance!

    Dave
