First Crossover Design 3-way

        Hello, I am trying to design my first crossover which will be a 3-way. I am using the Dayton Classic DC300-8 12″ woofer, Dayton Classic DC130B-8 5 1/4″ mid, and the Dayton DC28F-8 1-1/8″ silk dome tweeter. I’m trying to make a classic 3-way style speaker. The front baffle will be 28″ tall by 14.5″ wide, and the depth I will adjust for when I figure all the bracing in (subject to change). The recommended sealed enclosure from Parts Express is 1.5 Ft. cubed. WinIsd was 1.47 Ft cubed. I watched Toids video a while back where he designed a 3-way with the Classic 10″ woofer. I was able to get a similar SPL graph with the drivers mentioned above, but then realized after reading the comments on that video that he did not supply any other graphs or measurements, like impedance, or power on components. I am trying to keep the power on the drivers within their RMS rating per Dayton’s specs(work in progress). I have also tried to have a general slope down from 100Hz to 2KHz to compensate for bass loss of the enclosure like in the video. Update: I have put in the actual part values at this point and everything is pretty close to the graphs below. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to give me any advice/constructive criticism on the design. I am not set on anything, even the drivers. I just would like to know if I’m getting it, or have I made any huge mistakes. I am using Vituix. Thank you in advance.

          Sorry for the delay, it’s been a long, busy weekend.

          1st, a little hint to help us help you. Use the link option in the editor and link us to the drivers you are basing your design upon. That, and give some info on your speaker design – box type (sealed/ported/OB/TL, etc.) and volume, or equivalent information. I believe I have the woofer and mid, but the silk dome tweeter is a shot in the dark.

          These are the woofer and mid I’m looking at.

          Your graph suggests crossover points around 300 Hz and ~2500Hz.

          300-400 Hz looks like a good spot for the first crossover.

          Depending on which tweeter you use, 2000 Hz would be the mid/tweeter crossover point I’d go for.

          Baffle step, I’ll leave that to those more advanced than myself. I personally have never worried much about it as the placement in the room really affects bass dramatically. (Plus, I’m not averse to using tone controls or graphic equalizers).

          I use XSim. I’ve downloaded Vituix, but I don’t have the time available to dive into learning it at the moment.

          I’ll add more as I find time.

            Thanks for the edits. I was spot on with the 12″ and the 5-1/4″. I’ll look at the tweeter tomorrow.

              Update WinIsd sealed volume for the 12″ is 1.8ft3 for a Qtc close to 0.707, and sealed volume for the 5 1/4″ mid is 0.18ft3 for a Qtc close to 0.707.

                I am looking at making a setup just like yours as my first as well, could you please clue me in on exactly how you did the crossover; like a parts list, maybe? Also do you have pictures and schematics of your finished project? Did it turn out as you hoped?
