I have been into DIY audio for many years, but mostly car audio. Well in the last few years my 12 year old son has shown alot of interest in audio so we have been building a few things. We have him a nice little 5.1 set up for his room and have been upgrading it the one in our living area. Hopefully I can get some education here and maybe help someone here too.

Liinel, that sounds awesome! What did you do for uupgrade to your sons system? I love just uogradinu small piece by piece. It’s nice to upgrade a piece at a time. I do that all the time. I can’t wait to see what you’ve done and will do. Feel free to share and ask away! We’re glad to have you!

It is just a little 5.1 Pioneer receiver, the front, center and surrounds started as some car audio 6 X 9s and has progressed to a Dayton Center channel and towers for rears and some Energy towers for the front. I had an old 12″ Klipsch sub that the amp had died so we built him a slot ported box and a plate amp from parts express. I guessed at the box as I had no way to know the Thiele/Small parameters. The sub sounds better than it ever did in my home theater set up.
Our next project is going to be building some towers for my 5.1 set up. Trying to do some research and build something that I can use for several years.
