HI . both the <b itemprop=”name” style=”font-family: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color);”>Dayton Audio DSA215-PR 8″ Designer Series Aluminum Cone Passive Radiator

and .68uf capacitor are out of stock
for the capacitor I will solder an .47uf and .22uf together, also want to make sure that I will need to solder them in parallel and not in series in order to receive an equivalent of .69uf
but the speaker is out of stock and wont be back in stock for a long time. what good alternatives will you suggest ?
        thanks

You are quite correct, the Aluminum version is O.O.S., but the paper cone version is available. For that, I’ll let Toid answer. Might take a bit as he’s very busy off line.

To the capacitors, you are correct, parallel is what you need to add the capacitance. See https://www.allaboutcircuits.com/textbook/direct-current/chpt-13/series-and-parallel-capacitors/ for a good explanation of how it all works.

Thanks for the answer I ended up buying them from amazon ( 50% more expensive but at least will ariive in 2 weeks and not 3 months )

I have another question . What wire gauge should I use in the speakers internally

Inside the speaker is usually up for debate, but Toid has previously stated that he primarily uses 16 gauge wire. Can’t go wrong with what the designer uses.

Thanks for the help . another small question . if I want to enlarge the size of the cabinets by lets say 10-20% mostly to give it some bigger “feel” . will it dramatically change the sound or it wont effect the sound much

Passive radiators act like a tuned port, but without the chuffing. So the box size, passive radiator mass tuning and bass driver all go hand in hand. Change one and you should check all the others. Chuck all the info into WinISD and see what the differences will do. Chances are, probably not much. But, the more you change the box size, the more it will affect the overall tune and efficiency.
