Hi, my name is Mantas. I am from Lithuania (Europe) and I love home theater and some good quality music.
I am already one foot in the home theater hobby (around 3 years) and have gathered some know how and even did my own 2 DIY devastators (https://www.avsforum.com/threads/san214-50-devastators-in-eu.3232001/#post-61348245).
Currently: I have Klipsch speakers right now, (I have Klipsch 280f’s, 450C and 160m’s) in my open area of around 10,000+CF, plus have 2 DIY devastators as mentioned above. My room is not just open space but has all sorts of angles in sloped roof ceiling, so impossible to have easy / perfect sound, but someday looking to have dedicated room, which I am working towards.
Problem: Apart from building my home theater in open space living room area, which is tough when wife approval is required, I know that I need better room treatment (within design requirements 😃 ) and that I need amps to drive speakers safe where I like them when watching good action movie without clipping. So, I need your help answering the questions.
I am looking for help here, because I want to DIY 5 speakers from Toids selection and the questions are:
Note: Consider the case where all environment perfect
Questions:
1. Do I really need to build all 5 speakers identical (5.2.0 system) in order to get the best sound transfer from speaker to speaker?
2. If I would build 2 x <b style=”font-family: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color);”>BTS 15, would<b style=”font-family: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color);”> x3 Cinema 10s for center and surrounds match the quality?
3. <b style=”font-family: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color);”>Audience 212 VS <b style=”font-family: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color);”>BTS 15, which would be better matching Cinema 10s?
4. What would you suggest to do if I want to build 5 speakers and need to somehow place center channel behind / above / below TV?
Hope someone can help or give me some questions that I could answer to improve your ability to provide better answers.
Thanks a lot!

need to somehow place center channel behind / above / below TV?o From my experience, if you’re using a TV, unless you’re willing to place it up high, you will likely want to use a horizontal MTM design.
As far as the other questions about duty and pairing, he has a cool link where he breaks down his various speaker designs into “Best DIY speakers by use”: https://padlet.com/Toids_DIY_Audio/best-diy-speakers-by-use-a816ozlyqrfqk004

Thanks for that, but it does not talk about pairing them.
Right now I have placed my Klipsch center on subs and then TV on top, and it almost makes my center in line with L and R. But if I would build massive speakers like Audience 212’s for LCR, than can i put Center horizontal or it would require design changes to make it work?
If I would make Cinema 10s would it be sufficient to catch up with BTS 15’s as L and R?

January 26, 2024 at 1:33 pm #52714He’s stated elsewhere on the forum that the Audience 212’s would work well as a horizontal center channel if you slightly alter the design to be smaller, and sealed instead of ported. But, he has not, to my knowledge, stated what the ideal box dimensions would be for the alteration
