Blog Forums DIY Speakers and Subwoofers Interesting problem – crossover for inexpensive 3 way build, can it be done?

      This is an exercise to see if a low cost 3 way system can be smoothed out by the crossover or is it just too much to fix? This is in response to what I found in this thread (Thanks for the grey matter exercise @Jriver146) and what I found when trying to come up with something to try to get the response respectable. Here is all the raw driver info below:

      Woofer Freq.

      Woofer Imp.

      Mid graphs

      Tweeter Freq.

      Tweeter Imp.

      It may not be immediately apparent, but there are some really big peaks that will need to be dealt with. See below. Note: Blue=system response, Red=Woofer, Yellow=Mid, Black=Tweeter

      No crossover

      First order, Mid reverse polarity

      Last iteration, Mid and Tweeter reverse polarity.

      As you can see, I got a lot of it tamed, but there’s still a peak around 5200 that I just can’t seem to tame. Anyone else want to take a stab at it and see what they can do?

      @123Toid, I’m moving the convo here since it’s not directly related to Jriver146’s thread and I don’t want to hijack it.

      Can you do me a favor and link the names to the Drivers? @tvor-ceasar

      @123toid In this post

      I see I forgot to add the zip file with the FRD, ZMA, and the Driver data file for WinISD. Sorry about that. The page froze during the first try and I had to redo it and missed posting the file.

      This is a hard one.  Mainly due to the midrange.  I really do not like it’s response.  However, this is as good as I could get it.  I guessed at the off-sets, since I can’t measure them, but they should be fairly close to those.  The mid and woofer are not perfectly in phase, but close.  Anyway here is a picture and all the files saved, including my xsim save, if you want to import it.

      P.S. That 4uf on the woofer doesn’t do anything.  I just forgot to delete it 🤭
