Micro 3-Way in the works!!
Have always wanted to do this build. Many would argue against it in principle and ask “why not just go with a 2-way”. If simplicity was the goal, I’d have to agree with them. But, from a driver standpoint, these won’t cost a whole lot more. If it was a 2-way, a tweeter with a much lower FS would be required to mate up to this woofer. I would argue the cost of the mid and tweeter I’m using would be close to equivalent of the lower FS tweeter. Next there would be the argument for crossover cost. Again, I would normally agree but there’s a twist to this set, they will be active on the bottom and passive between the mid/tweet. Therefore, crossover cost shouldn’t really increase by much if any.
Overall size, 7″ wide at it’s widest point, 12.75″ tall, and 8.5″ deep. Small enough to fit on most desk and they should pack a heck of a punch if all goes as planned.
Hoping Nick @123toid is up for the challenge here, this is the set of speakers I would like to use for our collaboration on the DSP Sure amplifier boards. What say you Nick?
Here’s a video showing one of the cabinets being cut on the CNC. Will follow this soon with another video showing one of the cabinets being assembled. 653-Micro-3-way-CNC-program.mp4
