Mini Dinas Build Log
I’m introducing the Mini Dinas here. Want to give you guys some ideas of the trials I’ve had while building these. So here’s my first design. I thought I’d use the Fountek Fe85 and the Tang Band W5-1138 subwoofer. The thought was to make it a boenicke W5 clone. But the more I researched that speaker, I quickly realized I did not want to clone it. I’ll go more detail later. so I decided to try these two out and see how they would work. I got a few measurements and I’m honestly not impressed with the FE85. It has a really weird response. But here are the test enclosures in the original design. I tested everything and created a crossover, which was a lot more complex than it should be.

That is a great question. I was never happy with it, so I put it aside. But now that these Dayton Audio dsp boards are so cheap, I might redo this with a DSP board.

I just did my first speaker build and I used one of those Dayton DSP/Amp boards. I’d love to make a post about everything I learned but I can’t find how to start a new thread. Is there a waiting period to post? I just made this account

There shouldn’t be. There might be that you need to post x amount of times before you can start a discussion. I forget what that number is. But to start a new discussion just go here: https://toidsdiyaudio.com/forums/ Click the category you want to start a discussion in and at the top right there will be a blue button that says New Discussion. Just click that and create it.
