I had the same question not too long ago. I have used compression drivers in my DIY speakers build but have been looking at AMT and ribbon tweeters closely lately.
I have come across a few articles about various types of tweeters after a simple Google search:

From Parts Express: https://www.parts-express.com/which-tweeter-is-right-for-you?srsltid=AfmBOoo3Wm5PQGwp3DNDWnqombEJDtpdG1TUiqmKDj7lxIQLam-ujpvN
My study & research is still on but going by my limited knowledge and the specs sheets on some of the AMT tweeters I have looked at, I am leaning towards using AMT or Planer in my next build – probably a couple of bookshelf speakers for stereo listening in my home office.
