Dude this is awesome! I love the I love the ingenuity of repurposing car audio. This is a huge accomplishment. It’s always good to be able to reuse stuff you already have on hand. I especially like the placement of the radio. I don’t think I would have thought to put it there.

I’m planning to build a kicker boombox that might find its way to Andy. I’ll send him pics, it’ll be his if he wants it/likes what he sees.

@CorNut That sounds very nice! If I know @livinloudwithandy then I am thinking that he might just be into some kicker 🤣

Well, other than the PC power supply I converted to a 12v source, it’s all kicker components. The media source is my old Kicker KMC2 so he’ll even have Bluetooth. He’ll be getting 6.5″ DS coax and a 12″ Comp but there’s nothing stopping him from upgrading those. The PSU I’m giving him can provide 60A @12V. I’ll have fun with it, even if he doesn’t want it (it’ll be kinda big) I’ll share pics/a video.

Curious, is that just running on a 12v battery for something like a battery backup? How long does it last?

Its running on a 12v battery so I can keep it fully portable.

Hello here’s an update. I got the new battery installed. Its a 12v 8ah battery because my 7+ year old battery died. I am not going to be using this radio all the time I have my other builds for that. I also have cleaned up the wires and added more dynomat!.

Also I will be adding in a port where you see the hole at the top. And my new battery tender Jr and pioneer IP BUS will be here soon also. So far this build is going great.

Also wanted to say please take your time on builds. In the past I built stuff really fast and rushed and it never sounded that great. But this is different I’ve been taking time to order parts and see where I’m gonna go next.

Thank you for reading! I’ll keep you all updated

It’s cool that it’s portable, and the battery tender will be nice to keep it on power if you want to use it as a shop radio, plus it’ll always be charged. How heavy is it with the new battery?

I would say 20 to 30 pounds. Or a little more. This pioneer has a CD player built in which adds alot of heft. It sounds great though I bought the radio for like 150 dollars along with a car subwoofers and a subwoofer box with it!

      Thank you!

Here’s mine with the 29$ Dual Kit from Walmart – I need to just make some content on this boom box – the rear speaker terminals work to charge the unit and also cool to use as an “amp tester” when buying used equipment!

@livinloudwithandy Boy your voice changed a lot in the beginning of the video. You were sounding quite Soprano. and not like the Soprano’s 😂

Seriously, excellent job! I love these types of boomboxes. HAve you ever thought to make an ammo can?

*P.S. not sure why but the video doesn’t appear to play all the way through correctly. Do you have a YouTube link?

        Lol definitely above 40hz🤣🤣🤣

Thanks man! Ya it was just a little test contraption honestly .. didn’t document anything since it was my first go at it .. I eventually want to film the making of one !

The way I did it was definitely an easier option compared to constructing your own enclosure ect.. but that’s always how I’ve done things lol the easy way 😅

That video is just a few clips put together from ticktok shorts unfortunately

Hello everyone here’s another update I did. I finally installed a Bluetooth pioneer ip bus Bluetooth adapter. It works great I’m surprised. This is wired right to the switch so it doesn’t drain battery.

Also thank you all for the kind words!!!!!!
