I know some of you have been waiting to hear more from me on my so called ‘soundstage 215’ true full range main speaker design. I have both good and bad news.

As some parts of the SS15 (like the woofer) are EOL and others seem to fluctuate in availablity its become rather impractical to continue my variation using the SS15 as its base. I also didnt really like that I was using so much of @123toid work, I did make a point of having my extra bit work ontop of the SS15 as available in the shop so builders would have to buy his plans before they could expand up to my plans but that limited me in some of the acoustic design constraints for what my taget cabinet design would look like

The good news – Im planning to start again from ground up on a ‘SS215’ entirely how I would want it to be designed. It will still share the overall intention and philosophy of the orignal SS15 so will retain the SS215 name (for now)

It will likely land in a more expensive tier than the SS15 and my original SS215 concept did as it will be following approaches and using components from my part of the pro audio industry but should rival a true IMAX/Dolby cinema type of true full range speaker just built smaller for the size of HT I see on here

I will followup as soon as I have a 3d model of the first draft design to share

This will be the HF driver I am designing the rest of the speaker around. I’ve heard it in person in one of the pro audio manufacturers products Ive used regularly and it is quite simply outstanding

The in room transient response waterfall graph and unbelievably low distortion/breakup even when driven really hard make it far superior to other traditional HF compression driver design in a way the on paper specs dont fully show
