MemberG’day Guys,
First things first, my real name is Mat. TasWesty is a nickname I picked up years ago on a car forum based on Westfield Sportscars. As the topic title states, I’m from Tasmania, so TasWesty it is. While it was never my intention for it be an alias, it’s kind of worked out that way.
I’m a signwriter by trade and I’ve been making things my whole life and I have a passion for building and racing cars.
I’ll be the first to admit I have no expertise whatsoever when it comes to audio builds. I’ve built two ‘boomboxes’ so far using an ammo box and a toolbox. I’m pretty sure neither of them sound anywhere near as good as they would if built by someone who knows what they’re doing, but it was fun anyway.
So, I have the bug, which is why I’ve joined the forum. The thing that appeals to me most about this hobby is it combines just about everything I am interested in when it comes to making and design. I’m really looking forward to learning as much as I can and being part of this community.
Cheers
Mat

KeymasterMat,
Welcome! Man, you have some of my favorite hobbies as well. Who doesn’t love fast cars? In fact, I have already built and am planning to rebuild a racing simulator in my house. The next one I build will be built on my YouTube channel, complete with 5.1 surround 😀
That is awesome you have already built two speakers. Hopefully you will share some pictures sometime. And we are here to help you design even better sounding ones in the future. Looking forward to having you on the forum!

ParticipantWelcome Mat! Having fun at this stuff is one of the most important aspects. Word of caution though, this hobby can be addictive, lol. I got into it for some of the same reasons, love building things with my hands and a passion for designing. Looking forward to seeing your future works.

MemberThanks Kevin. I’m definitely feeling the addiction. I have a few plans in the pipeline and boxes of parts sitting in the shed waiting for the time to get started. Only problem is time has been very short lately. Hasn’t stopped me from buying more parts though. 😀

ModeratorHey Mat! (The Electromagnetic Force is strong in this one)
I have a similar problem, not enough free time to do any of what I want to do, but at least I have the parts for when it comes around.
Just remember, Parts is parts, but when you put ’em together, the parts is Arts!
