Hey guys, I’ve built a couple of speakers thanks to the tutorials that Marius from AudioJudgement has released in UDEMY. That’s literally my whole knowledge on top of many hours of Youtube videos like those from Toid and others when it comes to speaker building and crossover design.

I have been using Xsim strictly as my program of choice for designing crossovers because its all I know how to do. I however, have been hearing at lot of talk when it comes to the use of VituixCAD2. I hear it has a whole lot more features and can give you better results when you use it properly.

I for one can’t deny or confirm any of this as I haven’t used it yet (currently working on a build to try it out). But some of the pros which really intrigue me are that it allows you to input many more measurements for each of the drivers you’re working with. So you’ll take your usual on axis measurements but you’ll also progressively rotate the speakers in 10 degree increments (off axis) and measure until you’ve reached 180 (it can even interpolate so no need to make all the measurements). This will in turn calculate your acoustic offsets for you and well it’ll take into account the offaxis responses of your drivers for the xover design.

it also has tools for joining the near and far field measurements if you don’t want to do it in REW, also has some diffraction tools and a whole lot of other things I don’t even know about.

I’m wondering if anyone here has used it and recommends it. Additionally I want to know if there are any tutorials online for the use of this program from measurements to designing the xover itself, I’ve looked everywhere and even read the official instructions by VituixCAD2 but Its not enough in my opinion.

attached are some of the speakers I’ve built myself

These are speakers I’m currently building to test out VituixCAD2 for myself. They are a set of 2 way speakers using an MTM configuration with TCP115-4 in series to get 8ohm load with a ND25W-4. They are ported with dual PVC ports (flared on both ends). Yes I have accounted for all the volume the ports and speakers and bracing takes up.

I know there’s a few members who use VituixCAD for many aspects of design. Unfortunately, I am not one of them. Hoping this will push your post forward so they see it.

Thank you Ceasar, I really hope this gets attention… The community needs to release a tutorial If not I will try to make one but the only problem is I don’t know how to use it at all.

So I have them built, sanded, primed, painted, and gloss finish applied. Also have fitted the interior with denim sheets for standing wave insulation. I have to actually change one of the TCP115 drivers because upon inspection of its ts parameters with DATSv3 the TCP in question is vastly different than the other. But for now this is where I’m at team.

Any news of the use of vituix cad anyone ? @Toids_DIY_Audio ? Could be a worthy vid on YT… Maybe a lil tutorial

So anyways I have the impedance of the enclosure with the two woofers hooked up in series to get an 8ohm load. So far the enclosure looks good and free of crazy resonances. I still have very little direction as to the use of vituix but I’m getting ready to take some FRD measurements on rew to design a crossover. I’ll be making one in xsim and vituix to see what’s up.

My biggest desire about using vituix is that someone told me that the acoustic offset was to be calculated and implemented by the software without me doing anything, I also imagined that with the use of all of those other measurements at different angles that one could make a better x-over. But alas nothing from this forum yet, to reddit I go.

I’ve downloaded VituixCAD and all the supporting docs, but have yet to get into it. At some point soon….

Ceasar did you get a chance to give the software a go?

Unfortunately, no. Work and the holidays have really bitten into my free time.. I am going to get to it soon, though. Probably after I get through doing a cardboard mock up of a few designs I cam up with before all this hurry-scurry came to be.

Also, I just went back looking for Xsim to see if the circuit block editor was working correctly and found a new update. See: https://libinst.com/Xsim/ and take note of the dates. I’ll be getting around to it soon.

Yeah, I could keep the “check for updates” box checked, but I like to deal with things myself on my terms.
