In fact there are several other specs of audio amplifiers that vastly affect their performance beyond simply the frequency response and output wattage that are overlooked in the home and DIY audio markets that we in the pro audio markets pay more attention too. There are of course much higher costs associated with that performance
For example, my favourite amplifiers in the very high end PA market are from d&b audiotechnik(only for their own speakers, which i use regularly) and powersoft. Both d&b and powersoft amps are well over £3000 for a 4 channel amp but will wipe the floor with even the crown in a side by side listening comparison. When i finally move somewhere with space to build my own home theatre i will quite likely look into powering it all with powersoft amps no matter the cost
