Absolutely. Outside is a power fest, especially if it is wide open. You can always throttle the amp in either direction when it comes to the venue, but if you don’t have the amount necessary for worst case scenario, all you’ll do is push the amp into clipping and overheating, and that will also stress the drivers.

I do believe that with the “high-ish” F3 (for a 15″), those bass notes are best left to a sub, especially outdoors. And that’s where the lion’s share of power will be.

Ultimately, it’s best to plan for your most demanding situation. Take a bit more time to investigate, mull over, think about, and just try to anticipate what you “might” encounter in the future.
