That is a good question. Typically you are wanting to look for a subwoofer with a Qts above 1. Some things to keep in mind, it is easier to implement, but it won’t take nearly as much power. Since there really is no box (it’s playing free air, you will hit your excursion limit earlier. This means less spl and for a 12″, probably isn’t recommended. Unless you are wanting to put it in a box (ported or sealed and have the front face of it line up with the outside wall. Then you get the best of all worlds. You can even cover it will grill cloth so no one sees the subwoofer or port. Basically you can bake the grill line up with the wall. That way nothing protrudes into the room.
