Thanks Josh, I’m quite sure you are right. I noticed it e.g. with vinyl Nevermind by Nirvana but now it plays well. I have to say this week I bought a new record player (Audiotecnica lp120). I think this made the difference.
Thanks for stopping me reopening the speakers for nothing and suggesting more investigation.
