Things I learned:
- Working with MDF, always pre-drill. And always hand-screw.
- Using spray-paint will give you a smooth finish but your imperfection would show. Using Exohyde will have a little texture when applied but will be faster and will easily hide any imperfection. Only one coat of Exohyde is required in most cases.
- While building crossovers, don’t place two inductors too close to each other. Apparently they can interfere with each other’s magnetic fields. You can change their orientations with respect to each other or try to place them at least 4″ – 6″ apart.
- The only difference between you and a good carpenter is that he knows how to hide mistakes. Shoot for perfection but keep in mind that it’s a DIY speaker. Its your creation. Have fun building these 🙂
