        Have you designed & built a multi-channel amp? I am exploring making amp(s) to power the LCRs and 4 surrounds. To start with, I plan to build an amp for the LCRs. Here’s what I have collected so far:

        Instead of two separate amps, if there are solutions available for one amp for all the 7 channels, I am all ears! Have any of you done something like this?

          I am not sure if @Chedwin or @TVOR-Ceasar have done this. I only did a few 2 channel amplifiers. Of course, there is no difference per se. I love the idea! It is something I wanted to do, until I realized how cheap Buckeye amps were. Now I am not sure, since it seems like it wouldn’t be that much cheaper to do it myself. I know @TVOR-Ceasar was looking into it. He might have some more details. I want to contact Hypex myself to see if I can qualify to buy some of their boards.

              I have not and probably never will go down this route myself

              Due to my experienced trained ears I have much higher and stricter requirements than you guys when picking amplifiers that Im not aware of any DIY amp builds being able to keep up with

              If you can get access to hypex it looks worth doing. Another option that would make alot of sense to me would be mixing different sized amp boards in a single housing for active biamped speaker driving

                Fair enough. Hypex boards are hard to get. Then there are Purifi boards that are rated higher than Hypex but are not available for DIY.

                In my local electronics store (Best Buy), I listened to Arcam and McIntosh amps and loved both of them. With my own build, I would like to see if I could top what I have right now. If nothing else, I would have an amp that I can use for listening to music.                 Or, maybe an altered MTM configuration tower speakers…

                I’ve looked around at many of the available modules, especially those that can power multiple modules, daisy chain style, and have been intrigued. What you are proposing is very doable with these pre-built modules. There are a number of things to keep in mind, mostly heat management and isolation, both for the line voltage and supply voltages plus EM and other forms of interference.

                Since these are all pretty much the same size boards, you could install them on edge, with grounded separators to reduce interference, etc, and still have a smaller than most chassis. Just follow good standard practices and it should turn out great.

                    Thanks for the feedback. With my somewhat limited knowledge, I want to make sure that I start on the right foot, so to speak. ICEpower modules are widely available for the DIY community compared to others. If I had an option, I would like to play around with Hypex and even Purifi. Hypex is still available as a DIY kit but its hard to get my hands on Purifi.

                    I have a 7-channels amp from ToneWinner that I currently use to power my LCRs and surrounds. The 3-channels amp I want to build (aham…. assemble), I figure ICEpower would be a good candidate.
