Dinas Passive – Do I need a Subwoofer? Build Plans

This is for the build plans to build your own pair of Dinas Passive. Dinas is short for Do I Need a Subwoofer. And that is because each speaker has it’s own  subwoofer paired with a passive radiator that goes down to an impressive 32hz. These are the passive version of the speakers you saw 123Toid from YouTube build and JoeNTell Review. These speakers are completely passive allowing you to utilize your favorite amplifier with them.

DINAS Passive – Do I Need a Subwoofer

This is the build plans for the newest version of the famous DINAS speakers.  These utilize a side firing passive radiator to increase sound quality.  In addition, I listened to you guys wanting the ability to use your favorite amplifier.  With this is mind, these use passive crossovers, so that you can now use whatever amplifier you want, allowing these to become more versatile for you. For those who aren’t familiar with the original Dinas. Dinas is short for Do I Need a Subwoofer. This is due to each speaker having it’s own subwoofer that goes down to an impressive 32hz. These are the new and improved version of the originals that you saw on Toids DIY Audio from YouTube build and JoeNTell Review. This updated version uses a side firing passive radiator instead of ports, making it even easier to build the cabinet.  They also use a custom passive crossover, which allows you to use your favorite amplifier that can handle 4ohm speakers. These are very powerful set of speakers that uses these components:

Details of The DINAS

The build plans include cut lists, how to assemble and the crossover diagrams.  Since these are passive speakers you can choose any amplifier that can handle 4ohm impedance to run them. These are tuned using passive radiators that will be side firing.  You can place these on either the left or right side of the speaker. similar to the Voxel Passive Radiator.

For a pair of speakers the component cost is around $250-$350. *make sure to double check the main components for price does fluctuate

The Finished Design is around 12.5″ Tall, 7.5″ Wide and 10″ Deep

About The DINAS

Each speaker has it’s own redesigned voxel subwoofer. It is redesigned with a Passive Radiator that removes port noise and increases sound quality. They feature a full range driver in it’s own sealed enclosure and a tweeter to help give the speaker a full frequency range to 20khz.

The projected Frequency response is around 32hz-20khz, making these a true full range speaker.

The final speakers are a nominal 4 ohm speaker and will run off any of your favorite amplifiers that are rated for 4 ohm speakers.
